Listening to the Spirit
At Spreydon, Vision Night happens once a year. It is an opportunity for the church to remember the year that has been, praise God for His faithfulness, and look ahead to sense where the Holy Spirit is drawing us.
The prayer, listening and planning for Vision Night began months ago.
In July the elders and pastoral team had a weekend away to sense together God’s leading. We spent the weekend looking at how God has led the church in the past, the highlights and turning points that have shaped the church and the stories of people whose lives were transformed by God in the midst of our church community. We prayed individually and together to sense the emerging new life of the Spirit in the church today, yet in the context of the past.
By the end of our time we had pages of thoughts, memories, prayers, passages of scripture and insights. We then tried to discern together the crucial things God was showing us. We left with four major priorities for the church; each one a sign of what God is doing in our midst and each one essential to fulfilling our church vision.
Our church vision is to be a redemptive community, sharing the love of Christ in the world, by word, sign and deed;
helping people become lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.
